Gloucester Stage Youth Acting Workshops is a professional training program designed to provide young people with an outlet to nurture their creative potential through developing self-confidence, communication and teamwork skills to use in their daily life as well as introducing them to the skills necessary for professional theater.

The workshops include an introduction to theater basics such as acting techniques, theater games, improvisation, movement, vocal and physical expression,non-verbal communication, character preparation, scene study, storytelling, writing, public speaking and confidence building training. YAW also includes explorations of stagecraft, technical theater, costume design and theater related disciplines including music, magic, puppetry, art, sign language, and film and television production taught by guest artists in collaboration with YAW teacher and director Heidi Dallin. The YAW Summer Session is 2 hours of instruction per week and the YAW Fall and Winter Sessions expand to 4 hours of instruction per week.

Friday, September 22 to Saturday, October 28

Fridays from 4-6pm & Saturdays from 11 – 1pm*
* Final Class on Oct 28 will be held from 1pm-3pm.

TEEN: Ages 10 and up starting Saturday, September 23nd to Saturday, October 28

Saturdays from 9am-1pm

Each class meets for four hours a week for 6 weeks. Heidi Dallin will lead instruction with assistance from guest teachers. Session includes instruction in acting, playwriting, lighting design, costume design and stage management.
