Auditions

While Gloucester Stage Company’s classes are open to all students, actors in GSYC’s Youth Company are selected through an audition process. While we endeavor to make this audition as supportive and low-stress as possible for our student actors, we may not be able to cast everyone who auditions. Parents and students should discuss and be prepared for either outcome of auditions. We provide feedback and class recommendations to those not accepted into this program. Our goal is to create a well-crafted performance and our directors commit the same amount of instruction and attention to every student. Actors interested in this program should be willing to commit to the ensemble regardless of the role in the production. Tuition is required prior to the first day of rehearsal and there are no refunds given if an actor is unhappy with their role.

COMMITMENT: Due to the intensive and ensemble nature of the program, actors must commit to being at all rehearsals. Actors must have consistent and dependable attendance and participate in the rehearsal process with focus and dedication.

AUDITION PROCESS: Please come to the audition prepared with a short memorized monologue. Monologue suggestions will be given upon confirmation of an audition slot. The audition will also consist of reading from the script with fellow actors. The GSYC artistic staff is looking for performers with basic acting instincts and the ability and desire to share their creativity with the group. Risk taking and the ability to work well with others is a huge factor in selecting cast members, so take chances during your audition, have fun, make creative choices, and be respectful of others.

Our Focus

Students in grades 7-12 delve deeper into the skills and practices necessary for character building, script analysis, physicality, vocal skills and scene work.

Fall 2021 Production:
Clue: Onstage (High School Edition)

It’s a dark and stormy night, and you’ve been invited to a very unusual dinner party. Each of the guests has an alias, the butler offers a variety of weapons, and the host is, well . . . dead. So whodunnit? Join the iconic oddballs known as Scarlet, Plum, White, Green, Peacock, and Mustard as they race to find the murderer in Boddy Manor before the body count stacks up. Based on the cult classic film and the popular board game, Clue is a madcap comedy that will keep you guessing until the final twist.

Rehearsals: September 25 – November 13

Audition Workshop

September 18,10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Gloucester Stage Company is hosting an optional audition workshop to help actors prepare for auditioning for the fall GYSC production of Clue: Onstage (High School Edition). You do not need to attend the workshop to audition for Clue. During the workshop, actors will practice the basics of audition etiquette, work on a monologue, take part in a ‘mock audition’, and gain some strategies and skills to calm anxiety and nerves during an audition. The workshop is free, but pre-registration is required.

CLUE Auditions

Saturday, September 25, 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM
