Play Submissions

Gloucester Stage was built on lifting up new plays through first productions and staged readings. Since our founding, we have had an accessible play submission process for playwrights and have produced 39 world, 7 national, and 35 New England premieres with critical success. In the last year alone, Gloucester Stage received and reviewed over 700 plays.

We are called to continue welcoming new playwrights to the stage, but we are inviting writers to connect the work they bring to an issue affecting our community. Responding to that need and in celebration of Earth Day 2024, Gloucester Stage is presenting Water’s Rising: Festival of New Climate Action Plays April 25 to 28, 2024. Learn more about the festival and submission guidelines by clicking below.

Submissions for the Waters Rising Festival have closed for 2024 and we are not accepting unsolicited new scripts at this time.
