Gloucester Stage Company is proud to offer professional training workshops and performance opportunities designed to provide quality, innovative theatre experiences to children and teens, helping them to discover their voice and identity and nurturing their creative and intellectual growth through the development of skills they can use onstage and in their daily lives.

Katie Oberlander has a bachelor’s degree in voice performance from Eastman School of Music and a master’s in arts administration from American University. An experienced drama and music teacher, Katie has worked at Norwood School in Bethesda, MD, The Peabody Essex Museum, North Shore YMCA Theatre Company, Brookline Public Schools, Marblehead Community Charter Public School and Miles River Middle School. She is currently Director of Performing Arts at Harborlight Montessori. Katie has directed and authored numerous plays and musicals for professional theatres, including Imagination Stage in Bethesda, Maryland, Ogunquit Playhouse in Ogunquit, Maine and Seacoast Repertory Theatre in Portsmouth, New Hampshire where she served as Director of Youth Theatre. She is the author of Applause for Plautus, Kitchen Catastrophes and Mastermime, all published by Eldridge Publishing and performed in schools and theatres around the world.
Our Upcoming Classes and Productions
Grades 1 – 8

James and the Giant Peach
Grades 1 – 8
Rehearsals January 3 – February 5
Open to actors in grades 1-8, Gloucester Stage Youth Company’s musical theatre production of Roald Dahl’s beloved children’s tale will rehearse over 6 weeks. Students learn theatre vocabulary and gain acting, singing and dancing skills while preparing for the performance. Actors rehearse 1-3 times per week depending on their role. Casting will take place by auditions held in the first week of rehearsals.
Theater Intensive Weeks
March 7-11 9:00 am – 2:30 pm, March 14-17 9:00 am – 2:30 pm, Performances: Weekend of March 18
This two-week collaboration between Gloucester Stage Company and Harborlight Montessori provides an intensive experience in theatre production, on stage and backstage, for students in grades 4-8. In addition to acting, students participate in all aspects of theatre, including box office management, lighting and set design, costumes and props. Students will participate in a full-scale original production as the culmination of their experience. Click here to LEARN MORE!
