Holmes and Watson are back in this nail-biting, laugh-out-loud comedy. After Dr. Watson moves in with London’s most celebrated (now retired) “deductive consultant,” they get a visit from Scotland Yard needing Holmes on a case. Holmes and Watson begin their crime solving tour of London encountering vengeful widows, slimy politicians, and scheming sex workers as Holmes tries to crack the toughest case of all … the mystery of Watson.
From the top produced American playwright, Kate Hamill writes and Rebecca Bradshawº directs this familiar suspenseful comedy. Running from September 4 to 27, all performances are at Gloucester Stage’s Theater 267 East Main Street, Gloucester. Showtimes are Wednesdays & Thursdays at 7:30pm, Fridays & Saturdays at 8:00pm, and matinees Saturdays & Sunday at 3:00pm.
Runtime is 2 hours & 20 minutes, plus a 10 minute intermission

Kate Hamill (she/her) / Playwright
Kate Hamill is an actor and playwright. Kate has been one of the most-produced playwrights in America from 2017-2023 and is the most-produced playwright in the country for 2024/25 (tied with Rajiv Joseph). Rebecca Bradshaw is in her third season as Gloucester Stage’s Producing Artistic Director. Directing credits at Gloucester Stage: Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike and The Ding Dongs. Meet the Cast

Eryn O’Sullivan / Ms. Sherlock Holmes
Eryn is an actor and professional gardener originally from Georgia and living in Gloucester. She is a graduate of Boston University’s College of Fine Arts and the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, where she majored in Acting. Since moving to Gloucester, she has performed with Lanes Coven Theatre Co in A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Helena), The Importance of Being Earnest (Gwendolen), Romeo & Juliet (Mercutio), Macbeth (Witch 1/Malcolm) and most recently as Rosaline in Love’s Labor’s Lost. Last year, she worked with Rebecca for the first time on Vanya, Sonia, Masha, and Spike (Cassandra), and had an absolute blast. She also has an all-female theatre company called Don, Pat & Tom. They make new, multidisciplinary work. Their most recent project, a film entitled “Epinephrine,” is playing in festivals all over the US and Europe.

Marley Bjornstad & Sofiia Shyroka / Prop Designers + Apprentices
Marley Bjornstad is theatre technician originally from St. Paul, MN who recently graduated from Pacific Lutheran University with a BFA in Technical Theatre/Design. He has worked as a stage manager, lighting designer, electrician and scenic technician on a wide range of productions. His recent credits include Sherwood: The Adventures of Robin Hood (Stage Manager), The Prom (ASM), It’s A Wonderful Life (Co-Lighting Designer), and Antigone (Co-Stage Manager). Born and raised in Lviv, Ukraine, Sofiia recently graduated from Kenyon College with a degree in Drama and Biology. Always striving to learn and grow, she has cut her artistic tooth across all aspects of live performance, from directing and acting to design and production management. She has worked on projects in Lviv, Columbus, London, and New York, and is now excited to join Gloucester Stage as a 2025 Production/Technical Apprentice! She looks forward to contributing her global perspective and a blend of creativity and analytical skills to help ensure smooth production runs, transform challenges into powerful art, and connect audiences across borders.
Julian Crocamo / Sound Designer
Julian Crocamo is a composer, audio engineer and sound designer based in Portland, ME. His work has appeared at The Kitchen Theatre Company in Ithaca, NY (The Thanksgiving Play, The Chinese Lady), in The Huntington Theatre Company’s audio play Sherlock in the Fog. He is happy to be back with Gloucester Stage again, after 2023’s The Ding Dongs and last year’s The Hombres
Colby Hairston / Assistant Stage Manager + Apprentice
Colby Hairston is a stage manager from Melrose, MA, who recently graduated from Fitchburg State University With a B.S. in Technical Theatre. In recent years, he has worked in the booth and backstage on shows such as The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Stage Manager), A Game (Stage Manager), 35MM: A Musical Exhibition (Stage Manager), and It’s A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play (Stage Manager). Colby has done work as stage manager and treasurer for his university’s Musical Theatre Club, aiming to bring the performing arts back in a big way to the university. He is looking forward to working with Gloucester Stage Company this summer and getting to deepen his love for and knowledge of theater through this opportunity!
Tara Hightower* / Production Stage Manager

Chelsea Kerl is a Boston based freelance artist and educator; she received her MFA in Costume Design from Boston University and previously attended the University of Maryland. Previous designs at Gloucester: No Child…,The Hombres, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, Tall Tales From Blackburn Tavern, Grand Horizons, Mr. Fullerton Between the Sheets, Tiny Beautiful Things, Native Gardens, Ben Butler, Madame Defarge, To Kill a Mockingbird, Man in Snow, Every Christmas Story Ever Told (And Then Some!), A Measure of Normalcy, and Gloucester Blue. Chelsea is the costume shop manager and costume design professor at Wellesley College; she also teaches at Bridgewater State University and previously worked in the costume shop of the American Repertory Theatre.
